How to create professional video content with Biteable

RELEVANCY WARNING: This article was written in 2017 and may not still be relevant.

We posted a blog a few weeks ago describing how you can create marketable video content for your social media channels, talking about Lumen5, Biteable, screen recording and standard video editing software.

In this blog, we’re going to go into a lot more detail for Biteable. It really is a fantastic, affordable tool that can be used for a number of purposes.

Hopefully, you will be able to use this blog as a step-by-step guide to creating professional-standard trailers, tutorials, intros, outros and more.

Step 1 – Getting Started

First of all, you’re going to need to decide what the purpose is for your fantastic new video. The templates/predetermined ones you can choose from are:

  • Advertising
  • Presentation
  • Intro
  • Slideshow
  • Business Explainer

Alternatively, you can simply hit the “start from scratch” button if you want to customise your own. Because you’re a pro.

Each video template comes with an example video, you know, as a little nudge in the right direction.

They’re really good as they help you to understand what an advertising video or presentation (and so on) should look like – so give them a watch first.

Once you have selected the type of video you wish to create, or for you daring people clicked “start from scratch” it’s time to move onto the next step.

We’ll be using the “advertising” template as an example in this blog.

Step 2 – Designing Your Frames

So, if you’ve chosen one of the five templates from the creation screen, you’ll see that your scenes, or frames, have been selected by default. These can easily be changed and modified.

By clicking the drop-down arrow in the top-right corner of any of the scenes on your timeline, you can swap them out for any others already in Biteable’s extensive database.

After clicking the “Switch scene” or “add another” button, you’ll get your first glimpse at the many categories of templates, images, footage and effects that Biteable has to offer.

I won’t name them all, but some of the animation and footage categories include:

  1. Image
  2. Isometric
  3. Colourful
  4. Fancy
  5. Abstract
  6. Promo

The list goes on. In fact, there are 28 categories of different scenes to choose from, with more in another section which you can upload your own company logos, too.

Many of the templates allow you to customise the frame with your own text, like the one used here as an example.

Some of the frames allow you to upload your own images and logos: these are clearly labelled, like this one (they’re really useful for the opening/closing frame!).

Once you have created a timeline of frames with your text customised and your logos added, it’s time to move onto the next step.

Step 3 – Colour

This isn’t a very big step.

Some of the frames that you’ve chosen might have customisable colour schemes, like this one.

In the “colour” tab (next to “timeline”), you can change the colour scheme.

We’d always recommend that you double-check the colour scheme you’ve picked before you build your final video. You might not be able to see the text, for example!

Step 4 – Audio

Audio is an element that can make or break your video, so you need to spend some time testing different tracks/sounds to make sure you get the right one.

There’s a number of things you can do.

Biteable has a library of tracks, ranging from ambient, calm music to heavy electronic music. The sounds are royalty free, so there aren’t thousands to choose from.

If you feel like one of these sounds is suitable, great. Go for it. If not, you could always upload an mp3 file of your own track!

There are loads of websites/sources on the internet for you to buy sounds for your video content, or even download for free in some places. Have a hunt around the web to find the perfect track for you.

Step 5 – The End!

Once you have done all of that, you simply hit the preview button to see if what you made is kick-a** (which it probably is), then you’re done!

You can download the file and use it to your heart’s content.
